Are you and your partner thinking of starting a family? Any couple considering kids will want to make sure their children have a safe environment to grow up in where they can make lots of happy memories. Yanchep is the perfect place for young families, with great schools, a tight-knit community and lots of fun activities for children. Here are some of the reasons Yanchep is a great place to raise children.
Places to Play
At the very end of 2015, a brand new play area, the Campground Adventure Park, was opened on the location of the old Club Capricorn Resort. The park features some great equipment for adventurous kids, including the incline net climber made from tyres and nets, nature play logs, a rotating round basket swing, and of course the park’s biggest attraction: the long dune tunnel slide. Kids will be dying to give this daring slide a go, and running up all the stairs to go again and again will definitely tire them out for bedtime!
You’ll be hard pressed to find a better kid-friendly beach in WA than Yanchep Lagoon. The water is calm and clear for little paddlers. The shallow water is the perfect depth to introduce kids to snorkeling and beach fishing. When you’re done having fun in the sun, head over to the Yanchep Lagoon Café for a sweet afternoon treat, or a takeaway fish and chips to share on the beach.
Places to Learn
There are places in Yanchep for kids to explore all their passions. Do they want to be a dancer? A rugby player? Do they want to learn self-defense? In Yanchep there is a Martial Arts Dojo and dance classes at the community centre. Within just 10-25 kms of Yanchep you’ll also find places for kids to learn guitar, French and art, or if they’re the sporty type, there’s kid’s teams where they can play rugby, netball, golf and more.
For budding young scientists and astronomers there is the Gravity Discovery Centre in Gingin, just 15 minutes’ drive from Yanchep. In the Centre, kids can learn all about science and the universe with hands-on experiments and displays. If your child is a bit older, with a later bedtime, you can also take them to the Gingin Observatory right next door for a special stargazing experience with real state-of-the-art telescopes
A Close Community
One thing that can’t be beat as a kid, is living near all your friends and enjoying a close community. Yanchep is the kind of safe, tight-knit community where kids can jump on their bikes and peddle down to the beach or the park together. The beautiful beaches, walking trails and bushland around will have your children growing up with an appreciation of nature. And when it’s time for them to move on, it’s not too far from the city and the Perth Universities.
