Our Yanchep Bucket List

There are so many things to do in Yanchep that it’s hard to fit them all into just one day trip!

However, since this hidden coastal gem is located just 50 minutes from Perth CBD and 20 minutes from Joondalup, you don’t have to! It’s easy to visit over and over, and always find something new to discover.

Not sure what to do in Yanchep? Here are all the amazing attractions to cross off your Yanchep Bucket List:

Yanchep Lagoon frequently makes the Best Beaches in Australia lists on many different websites. However, photographs and descriptions never really do it justice. The colour of the water is mind-blowingly beautiful, and because of the protection offered by the reef, the water is perfect for swimming without being battered by waves.

The beach is easy to access and great for families with small children. Yanchep Lagoon gives you that feeling of being on a dream coastal holiday, and it’s less than an hour away from the city.

Often it’s nice to get out on the weekend, explore nature and stretch the legs. However, you don’t want to drive hours to find a nice hiking trail.

Yanchep National Park is the perfect destination for biking, hiking and walking for people of all activity levels, just outside of Perth. One incredibly cool trail is a 2.7km, mostly flat, well-maintained loop (30-60mins) called Yanchep Caves Walk that leads you through Crystal Cave and Cabaret Cave. These caves offer excellent adventures for explorers of all ages.

The Wetlands Walk trail is also excellent for bird and other native wildlife sightings.

Did you know that Crystal Cave is the only cave in the Perth Metropolitan region open to the public? The cave contains natural crystals and stalagmites over a million years old.

The 45-minute guided tour includes interesting facts about the cave’s history and ecosystem. It’s the perfect way to introduce children to a fascinating new part of WA’s natural landscape and feel like a real explorer!

Also, the underground cave remains 18 degrees all year round, so it’s the perfect escape from Yanchep’s summer heat.

Are you tired of playing the same courses over and over in the Perth metropolitan area? Want to plan a memorable day trip for your group of golfing friends? Book a tee time at Sun City Country Club in Yanchep!

The Sun City Country Club golf course was recently named one of Australia’s top 100 courses in Golf Australia magazine. Located on St Andrews Drive in Yanchep, the luscious course is surrounded by beautiful native Australian bushland. The course is reasonably priced and open to the public, with an easy to navigate online booking system.

  • Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch in town.

There’s nothing better than chowing down on some delicious seafood while gazing out on the ocean from which it came! Check out Yanchep Beach Lagoon Café or Chippys Fish Café for a classic fish and chips feed after a big day at the beach or hiking trails.

WA has its fair share of lovely coastal drives, but Yanchep Beach Road takes the cake. There are plenty of photo-ops and lookouts along the way and the chance to spot wild marine life such as dolphins and whales. One Yanchep Beach Road driver said on Trip Advisor: “This must be the best-kept secret scenic ride north of Perth, and I fell in love at first sight… a place near Perth where the sight of original untouched dune landscapes alongside the Indian ocean can thankfully still be enjoyed!”
