Yanchep Lagoon is one of the most popular swimming beaches north of Perth. The clear, calm waters make for a brilliant snorkeling spot too! The lagoon is well equipped with swimming flags, decent parking spots, and a dedicated café offering lots of tasty treats post-swim. Next to the café there is a block of toilets and showers, so it’s a great option for a quick dip before work.
While the swells are usually very safe, there is a risk of strong currents when the tide is in due to the nearby reef, so always swim with a friend! In the summer, the Wanneroo roving lifesavers are usually on duty too. If you’re more of an observer, there’s a great boardwalk spot to watch the sun set over the ocean.
Just minutes south of the Lagoon, Fisherman’s Hollow is also a great option for swimming and snorkeling, as well as abalone fishing! The activity is popular among locals and visitors alike. Just down Brazier Drive, it’s the perfect place to cast an early evening line and enjoy the views. Fisherman’s Hollow is a great alternative to the Lagoon, which can be a little crowded on warmer days.
